How can we possibly go wrong? That's right - we can't! Read with us."While DON'T SING AT THE TABLE is sure to appeal to Adriana Trigiani's fans, it should also attract new readers who have yet to discover the delights of a Trigiani novel. These lucky souls are likely to be struck by the generous spirit of the author, who invites us into her family so that we, too, can enrich our lives by gleaning wisdom from these remarkable women. Lucy and Viola would certainly approve. "
- Amazon, by Bookreporter.com"Here, Trigiani combines family and American history, reflections on lives well-lived, and sound advice to excellent effect, as a legacy to her daughter and a remembrance of two inimitable women."

Don't Sing at the Table
Adriana Trigiani is a long-time favorite author of the Chicken Lit Bookclub, therefore we owe it to ourselves to read her latest book called Don't Sing at the Table: Life Lessons from My Grandmothers
. And for a quick 'heads up' about what's in store, take a peek at this commentary recently posted about Trigiani's book:

Just finishing ch 6 here. This book is quite different compared to our usual reads, but Trigiani's descriptiveness hasn't changed one bit. My favorite lesson (so far) is 'The best years in a woman's life are after forty'. If only I can be as fortunate as Viola and Lucy - knock on wood!
ReplyDeleteHow heartwarming to know Adriana Trigiani wrote this book as a way to pass along her grandmothers' wisdom to her own daughter, Lucia. What a sweet tribute to the women who helped raise her - we should all be so blessed.
ReplyDeleteAs for the book itself, I found it to be a somewhat quick read that would've been quicker without so much clothing/sewing details. But that was her grandmother's trade, so it makes sense to include it. Overall, the book was good for a first-time work of non-fiction, but without a doubt, I do prefer Trigiani's fictional novels over this one.
