Moving on. The next start-of-the-holiday reading list book is called
Gabriel's Inferno
by
Sylvain Reynard. And yes, this novel is also the first in a series, meaning
Gabriel's Rapture
might be next on our reading list. You just never know.
After that last book experience, we really don't care what other readers are saying about this one.
Let's find just out for ourselves!
I was actually looking forward to reading this book after seeing so many 5-star ratings, but after taking over a month to read it (can you say "dragged on for TOO LONG"?) I'm feeling a little cheated in this lackluster romantic story. It really wasn't that great. And just as it really picked up speed (the last chapter), I see the words "The End" at the bottom of the page. What the? So the publisher tacked on 30 pages of the first chapter in the next book? Here I thought things were going to get interesting only to find out I need to buy the next book in the series to find out. Seriously? I'm left deflated but will give it 3 stars for keeping me interested, barely.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that we are not falling into the someone needs saving mentality. That is what I found in this book. It was disappointing that it really came down to the sex at the end of the book to advance the story line. And so not real life. I think that they both have issues with trust and intimacy. I think a lot of the book was a build up to nothing. Sad, it did have much potential. Falls short for me. 3 is generous.
