Beautiful Disaster

The first actual novel on our start-of-the-holiday reading list is a book titled  Beautiful Disasterby Jamie McGuire.  The crazy thing is that we already had this one in stock after planning to read it several book selections ago!  And if we like what we read? Walking Disasteris ready and waiting, a variation of the original book.  How cool is that?

Here's a little of what readers are saying about it:
Six words, tree sentences: Buy it. Devour it. Love it... It was an amazing ride, full of great characters, exciting and sigh-worthy moments, drama, laughter, and countless emotions. Kudos to you, Jamie McGuire!

What a perfect way to start Thanksgiving - with an amazing book in our hands.

  1. Bought it.
    Did not devour it.
    Really did not love it.
    Fighting.
    Lots of random sex.
    Two people with painful pasts.
Two people with things to hide.
    Things they both regret.
Way too intense far too early.
Fighting for money in illegal circumstances. Putting others lives at risk not just your own.
Daddy dearest appearing from nowhere and now Abby must win 25k. The mobster, and the fighting. Did she actually pay him off? What happened to dad?
A fire in a college that leaves people dead in the wake of the last fight. That was glossed over and no repercussions or ramifications for that.
The run to Vegas to get married.

I certainly hope that young people today do not read this book, and like in the Eclipse books think all men are like this and that they as women have to act in such manners.

I am not a prude, but there sure were some cringeworthy parts to this book. 2.5 stars and I think I am being generous.

  2. Codependency, immaturity, mind game-playing, violent tendencies - all accurately describe main characters and what they bring to this novel. My review? Huge disappointment of such a highly rated book. "Beautiful Disaster" should be titled "Complete Train Wreck", one that I'm truly glad to be done reading.
