The Star Attraction

NEXT up on our Fall 2013 reading list is a book titled  The Star Attractionby Alison Sweeney.  And get this - according to Jodi Picoult, a well-known and highly acclaimed author, this book promises to be:
Great fun for any reader who secretly sneaks peeks at People magazine in the checkout line at the grocery store, and wonders, What if...?

C'mon Ali, get us out of this reading funk.

  1. A light fun read but with a "twist" that was just too foreseeable. While I could see myself reading Sweeney's book beach or poolside, it lacked the kind of action/depth that I usually seek out in a novel. 2.5 out of 5 stars

  2. I just finished. I guess I went into this with t he mindset that it was written by a soap actress. I know she says it was not taken from any stories, but it is so formulaic. No twists or turns and no real repercussions, the drinking, the Billy thing. And a man paying 15k to get a date with his ex? Kind of, no, really far far fetched to me. Snark comment? Makes me wonder if this is an act of marketing ones self while the iron is hot so to speak? She does have an audience that buys anything with a stars name on it. No I will not buy a book called the Mommy Diet. Seriously? 2 stars.
