must continue on with
Point of Retreat

Colleen Hoover. And this whole "no reviews, no fluff" business must be working for us, so here's to following suit.
(MORE good vibes... MORE good vibes... MORE good vibes...)
4+ (just shy of 5, because, well no book is perfect!)
ReplyDeleteI think that this was a very good book. I do wish that the end of Julia's life had been played out so that we could have seen how Lake dealt with her mother's illness and passing.
While I do understand the insecurity of Lake, it did seem to be a little over the top. Vaughn and Reece seem like a perfect match for each other. To me, it took far too long to get through, around, past, that.
I do understand why there had to be a life and death situation written into the book. But it should never take a life/death incident to make one see what should be so clear before hand.
Once I really sat down and started reading the last 100+ pages, the book started picking up. Slammed was told from Lake's perspective. It was a little harder for me to read from Will's perspective. Funny how my mind wants to read it from her point of view.
I really did enjoy these last two books. Hoping her third book lives up to the same level of enjoyment.
I also had a hard time switching from Lake to Will's perspective and kept thinking I was reading Lake's words instead of Will's.
ReplyDeleteThe first 100 pages were hard for me to get past, mostly because Lake's immaturity was expected at her young age but completely annoying to read. After that, the pages turned quickly and I couldn't put the book down.
4 out of 5 stars here, too. Is there a 3rd book? If so, can't wait to read it.
Losing Hope: A Novel is her newest book, though not in this series. It starts off with a bang! :-)
