"Reading Little Pink Slips in two days is like eating a giant-size bag of chips in one sitting... salty, tasty... you can't stop shoving them in your mouth.... Fun, full of juicy details." - Carin Rubinstein, Ph.D., author of Beyond the Mommy YearsSounds like we could be in for an exhilerating ride here, readers. So get your copy and stop on in whenever you feel like sharing; because as always, we want to know what you think about our selection.
"…the anti-Devil Wears Prada…all the same inside juice, but this time, you root for the editor! Koslow has created a superhero of a character in editor-in-chief Magnolia Gold….a smart but fashion-challenged…girl from Fargo, North Dakota. Magazines need more Magnolias!" - Cosmo GIRL
BTW: Did you know the author's background in writing this book came from her editorial experience with McCall’s magazine and run-in with Rosie O'Donnell? Read more here!

Finishing ch 7 here and cheering for Magnolia - boo to Darlene and Bebe!
ReplyDelete... and BTW: I do like this book so far. You?
ReplyDeleteOh I am sorry that I haven't responded, I am just starting chapter 13. It is a really good book!
ReplyDeleteHello Becca –
ReplyDeleteI hope you don’t mind me getting in touch. I wondered if your blog was free on the 1st of March next year? I’m a British author and a fellow Bookblogs member and my next novel, Thaw, will be published online next year after its physical publication. I wanted to invite you to participate in my Blogsplash - there’s more information at http://www.fionarobyn.com/thawblogsplash.htm.
Thanks for listening!
Warmest,
Fiona
@Becca - Just finishing ch 11 here and planning to read more over the Thanksgiving weekend. Is Magnolia actually selling out to Jock? I don't trust him OR Bebe.
ReplyDelete@Fiona - Thank you for the contact. I can speak for our bookclub members in saying we would be completely honored to participate in your Blogsplash. How exciting - cannot wait until March 2010!
I am not going to comment on Magnolia, because well, I just can't. I wonder if Jock and Bebe are well, you know...I think that this is going to backfire big time, since we haven't seen the pink slips yet..
ReplyDeletehmmm... wondering when the pink slips will make an appearance!
ReplyDeleteFYI: Added 3 more books to bookshelf today - 'The Accidental Bestseller' by Wendy Wax, 'An Offer You Can't Refuse' by Jill Mansell, and 'Always Looking Up' by Michael J. Fox.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff!
I have number one on my wishlist on Sony. I have number two, already on Audible, and number 3 is on my wishlist on Audible...
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think of Abby's husband, are you that far into the book?
Just purchased Numbers one and three.
ReplyDeleteAre we going to read Death by Cashmere sometime, I was thinking of getting it for the reader.
So you have all three now? Excellent! We'll be all set when we want to make those our bookclub selections. And yes, we need to read 'Death by Cashmere' sometime, too. I have it sitting on my bookshelf all ready and waiting - thanks for checking!
ReplyDeleteBTW: I sent Fiona an email (see above comment she posted). Are you making your personal blog available next March 2010? She sent me more information about her book and wants me to find as many bloggers as possible about promoting it. LMK if you'd be interested - I'll post more about it here soon.
I emailed her and hope that she reminds us of it before the date, because will either of us remember the date otherwise? Yes I am planning on writing about it!
ReplyDeleteIt's a long way out there for my brain! But yes, I do hope she reminds us. The perks/honors just keep on coming, don't they? :)
ReplyDeleteJust finished ch 14 - and from what I know up to this point about Abby's husband, he appears to be a big LOSER. Your take?
ReplyDeleteBig Loser is an understatement...read on..
ReplyDeleteI just bought:
ReplyDeleteSmooth Talking Stranger by Lisa Kleypas
and
Rumor Has It by Jill Mansell
Are you interested in reading
The Christmas Letters by Bret Nicholaus?
Starting ch 20, and wow! True colors are really showing. *yikes*
ReplyDeleteI'll check into those books you mentioned, Becca. Always open to new reading suggestions - thanks!
Just finishing ch 23 here. Boy am I a slowpoke! Still plugging away. Where is everyone (Becca?) in this book right now?
ReplyDeleteB&N sent word on Trigiani's soon to be released novel, Brava, Valentine. Any interest?
I am in chapter 31, it is a really good book!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes I am interested!
Recharging my reader this morning and will be reading away on this rainy day!
Hope you're digging in and staying dry on that rainy day of yours! I also think book is really good and especially like the Fargo connection. We have friends in Fargo, and hubs earned his degree there at NDSU. Koslow's depiction of that city is right ON!
ReplyDeleteHere's another book for our list that was just released today: Nanny Returns by McLaughlin & Kraus. Maybe I need to start an eBook wishlist? :)
Have you seen this book? The Brightest Star in the Sky: A Novel (Hardcover)
ReplyDelete~ Marian Keyes
Guess what I just got from Mr. UPS man? "The Letters" by Fiona Robyn! It wasn't supposed to be here until January, but Amazon had it!
ReplyDeleteI just put Nanny Returns on my reader! Yay, can you tell I love this thing!
ReplyDelete@Becca - I just found that Keyes book on Amazon, thanks! Must add it to my ereader wish list.
ReplyDeleteAnd you received Fiona Robyn's book already? I had no idea it would ship so soon. What's your initial take on it?
Thanks for getting 'Nanny Returns' on your reader - having access to ebooks is going to spoil us completely rotten.
No such thing as spoiled rotten!
ReplyDeleteI haven't started it yet, but from first impressions the cover art is really nice.
And yes I do love my ereader! Especially with the hubs being in Cali this weekend for work.
Starting chapter 36. Good morning!
ReplyDeleteGood morning to you, @Becca! Starting ch 31 here - I feel so bad for Magnolia... :'( Jock = JERK
ReplyDeleteOh you are just getting to the good stuff! I am not saying more but keep reading!
ReplyDeleteGood to know - I'm envisioning Magnolia starting her own magazine, or something really over the top. But thanks for no spoilers!
ReplyDeleteGood morning, really early morning!
ReplyDeleteBut I finished the book tonight. OMG!
That is all I am going to say, and somehow I see another book in this series!
Let me know when you catch up..no rush!
Merry Christmas!
I need to finish this TODAY - you've really got my curiosity going, @Becca! Will keep you posted.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas right back to you! Enjoy time w/family. :)
Hey chickie poo...did you get your swap gift? I was asked so I am asking....
ReplyDelete@Becca - responded via email.
ReplyDeleteJust finished reading our book today and posted a mini-review on Goodreads:
ReplyDeleteThis book is AMAZING - a definite 'Must Read'!
FYI: I give 'Little Pink Slips' a perfect 5-star rating. WOW!
ReplyDeleteAbout darn tooting time you finished this book! :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd see I didn't spoil it for you!
I've been just a TAD busy with the holiday preparations, but so glad you didn't spoil the ending for me. :) Hey, I was this close in my prediction of Magnolia starting a new magazine! (Not that the story was predictable - I just wanted her to come out a big winner in the end.)
ReplyDeleteThis book gave me everything I needed in a good book and didn't leave me disappointed. All of the elements were there, and then some - 5 STARS.
