Nanny Returns

Ah what the heck, how about a TWO-FER? As someone who just received an eReader for Christmas, I absolutely MUST try an eBook on it - thus another bookclub selection to accompany our previous release. This new selection is called Nanny Returns by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus, two fabulous lady authors who are also well known for previous works such as The Nanny Diaries and Citizen Girl - novels with all kinds of crazy-good praise. Here's just a sampling of the reviews circulating about Nanny Returns:
"McLaughlin and Kraus leave no dry eyes as they once again wield a razor-sharp wit that cuts down the most uppity mortals even as it lifts up their vulnerable children. You could safely bet your first born that this'll be another smash hit."
- Publishers Weekly

"Once again, the wealthy New York crowd serves as an addictive backdrop, and the story's contrast between shallowness and compassion is fascinating. Nanny Diaries fans will snap up this sequel." - Library Journal

  1. Do I need to read Nanny Diaries to get this one, do you think?

  2. Saw the movie a long time ago, so long that I can't even remember how the story went! I do remember it was good, however. And now jumping into the eBook, I haven't had any trouble following along. You shouldn't have to start Nanny Diaries, at least IMHO.

  4. Hey guys! I just wanted to thank you all for taking the time out of your busy lives to give us a read! Also, to let you know that you absolutely do not need to reread the Nanny Diaries first. FOr those who are interested, we have written a fun five-minute Nanny Diaries Cliff notes on our website- feel free to check it out: www.emmaandnicola.com. Nanny Returns picks up where our novel left off-- as opposed to the very happy ending of the movie. Can't wait to hear your thoughts!
    All the best,
    Emma and Nicola

  5. What a treat having you visit us here, Emma and Nicola! We're thrilled as ever to know you keep close tabs on your readers. Personally, I've started both novels but will check out the cliff notes, too. Although I must admit 'The Nanny Diaries' has me completely drawn in to the point that it's unputdownable. Anyway, good to know the ending is different from the movie version. That helps!

Looking forward to reading more of your comments as we post our thoughts.

    Thank you!

  7. We are so happy to hear that! We just found out that the majority of our book sales for Nanny Returns have been in electronic form. It makes us feel so old! :)

  8. @Becca & @Emma - I bought Nanny Returns in eBook form and The Nanny Diaries in hardcover. Still unsure about which form I prefer, but there really is something comforting in having real pages to turn and having a place for my favorite bookmarks!

Question for Emma & Nicola: Do you receive the same amount of revenue in eBook sales as you do in hardcopy? Less/more?

  9. This is so shameful - but I don't actually know the answer! This is all so new- in fact , it turns out that a large portion of NR sales have been in ebook form. We have just been discussing how we need to pull our contracts and find out. Thanks for the push! :)
