"Fresh and funny and satisfying. A terrific book about sisters that actually made me laugh out loud. I was completely drawn into Lindsey’s world and rooted for her from beginning to end."
– Jennifer Weiner
"With her smart, soulful novel, author Pekkanen explores the place where self and sisterhood intersect."
- Redbook magazine
Pick up your copy and read along with us. Who knows? Sarah might even stop by personally... bearing chocolate, perhaps?

Ordered it...should be on its way soon...
ReplyDeleteMarch 9th... did you take a sneak peek at the online chapters?
ReplyDeleteNo I did not, but I guess that I should, is that on Amazon or her site?
ReplyDeleteI went through http://www.sarahpekkanen.com
ReplyDeleteThanks Everyone! Really hope you enjoy The Opposite of Me and can't wait to discuss it!

This is great - we are so spoiled to have you here as the actual author of our bookclub selection, Sarah. Thank you for spoiling us!
ReplyDeleteSo far, all I can say is that I'm fairly certain I've found a new favorite author. Sarah Pekkanen's writing style & wit blows authors like Sophie Kinsella completely out of the women's fiction pool. (For lack of a better description.)
ReplyDeleteJennifer Weiner knew what she was doing in her endorsement - where have you been hiding all this time, Sarah?
I finished reading Sarah Pakkanen's book today and was pleasantly surprised over and over again by the depth of character, charming humor and believable spin she took with the plot/storyline. Simply put: I love this book!
ReplyDeleteNow to make it known as a personal favorite on Shelfari and Good Reads... meanwhile, anyone game in answering bookclub discussion questions with me? Here's the link: http://books.simonandschuster.com/Opposite-of-Me/Sarah-Pekkanen/9781439121986/reading_group_guide
I have TBSITS in my iphone. Want to do that? I can listen even if I feel like a slug..I need you to kick my butt...lol!
ReplyDelete@Becca - Sounds perfect. I just located my copy that I'd stashed away for safe keeping. (Oh how I love the sound of cracking open a crisp new book. You'll have to tell me how you like listening to it on your phone!)
ReplyDeleteI'll post the release tomorrow, but you can get started any time - I'm on pg 2. :)
@Sarah Pekkanen - While I found your book to be an extremely great read in many ways (and I'm not just brown nosing, just so you know), I did run across a possible technicality... on pg 280 the technician does the sign of the cross by touching his forehead, heart, right side of chest, left side. Not sure if he is Catholic, but if so he should've gone to the left side then right. Do other denominations sign otherwise? Or was that an 'oops'? Thanks for humoring me!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much - and yes, you are absolutely right. I wrote that scene from a different point of view (from Lindsey's) and then changed it but forgot to change the direction of his hand. So it will be corrected in new editions of the book... you are the second person to notice! Many thanks.
