Promises to Keep

A Jane Green novel would be a welcome addition to our summer read-a-thon, don't you think? So here we go with Promises to Keep as we make our way into August 2010, because it's a promising book to say the least. Here's a little more about this novel:
Synopsis: A novel about the hard choices we sometimes have to make, what it means to be a grown-up, and mostly, about the enduring nature of love.

"I really enjoyed this book. I did find it a little slow to get the sisters straight, at first, but as I got into a couple of chapters, I found myself into their lives; the characters developed as real people. I held my 2 year old daughter a little closer after I read it, but I did turn Mickey Mouse on for her,so I could finish the book. Very heartwrenching - as life is - good job writing, Jane."

  4. Having a hard time with this book? It does get better, or to me it does. I love listening to the recipes, not anything I would eat, but I think it is weaving something together, in the story line. In chapter 18..

Scanning slides for the inlaws so I have listening time..

  7. I just finished this book.

I have to give this book 5 heartbreaking stars.

I wasn't sure at first how the title of the story was going to unfold, but boy can Jane Green take us on an emotional ride.

I will not say more until you get the chance to finish the book. I want to get your thoughts.

Definitely read the epilogue and the memorium at the end of the book when you are done.

Amazing is all that I can say..

  10. I just finished reading 'Promises to Keep' 2 minutes ago and am finding myself fighting back a big huge lump in my throat while trying to hold back the waterworks! Not only did this book touch my heart but reached in and moved my soul. Jane Green really outdid herself in writing this book - a new favorite of all time.

5 enthusiastic stars (out of 5)! I recommend this book to everyone.
