My Hollywood

By special request, our next book is My Hollywood by Mona Simpson who happens to be another new author to our readers. And now instead of reading reviews on Simpson's book, take a look at this video review by Ron Charles:

Sounds interesting, no? Let's read and find out.

  3. Guess what came today?
It is the coolest! And hooked to the wi-fi here at home! Now I am reading on a glare free screen! This thing is so light! I am in Lola's first chapter, what do you think of the book?

  4. Yay! Glad you like your new eReader. Comparison review between both of your readers? That would be great.

I'm on Lola's 2nd chapter and enjoying this book. It seems reminiscent of 'The Help' - very different with the voice changes. Must see how it pans out. Your thoughts?

  5. The Kindle is so light and there is no glare when you hold it in bright light. It also has hook ups to Facebook and Twitter, downloading is really fast. I love how it remembers what page I am on no matter what place I am reading, say the computer, my iphone of the kindle. It always syncs to the right spot. So far it is my nice new toy. And yep, I am back to spoiled status..I am in the second Lola chapter too!

  6. Thanks for your take on the new Kindle - now I want one! And good to know we're in the same chapter. I've been tag-teaming this book with the final Hunger Games book, and it's definitely a nice switch from all of the violence going on right now. :P Had no idea what I was getting into with Mockingjay, but I can't put it down.

  7. I'm on pg 70. How goes the reading for you? Is it just me, or are Claire & Lola difficult to interpret at times? I just feel like I'm not getting some of the things they say. Thoughts?

  8. I am in the chapter marked "Couples Date". I am honestly having a hard time with this book, but I am plugging away. I just finished Lola's chapter on the retardeds. I am sorry, but that really bothered me and could not wait to get through it. I am hoping that it gets better. What are you thinking?

  9. I'm in the chapter just after yours. I will keep reading... and hoping, too.

  10. This is definitely one of the more challenging books I've read in a long time. Currently in chapter titled 'Half Half'. Still hanging in there, Becca? Where are you in the book?

  11. I am finished with this book - not that I read it in it's entirety. If I were persuing a book in the study of work & motherhood, 'My Hollywood' would be the perfect fit. However, I'm not and it's a struggle for me to stay interested in reading. 1 out of 5 stars.

  13. Let's go ahead and get started with 'Mini Shopaholic'. I'm already in ch 2, but I'll slow down while you get started. Sound good?
