Alright, so our next book club selection that we chose even before Hoda announced it as her favorite thing on Today is called The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom. This book of fiction is about the legend of Father Time and the real meaning of time. In fact, take a look at the author's video in which he describes the story in his own words:
And here's this, readers: it's a short read at only 222 pages.

I just finished the book this morning.
ReplyDeleteI had a hard time with it at first. But as the stories started to flesh out it made a lot more sense to me. I do think that it is a story for our time, no pun intended. Sometimes we need to learn that we are here but for a blip in the vastness of the universe and we need to make the most of it.
Like you, Becca, I had a hard time getting into the book until I finally made a concerted effort and plugged away at it. And not only do I agree that it is a "story for our time" but also for everyone's time, as it touches on the concept of TIME for all ages (past, present, young, old) and our need to fill every moment with action without appreciating the here and now. If anything this book teaches the reader to stop and smell the roses during our "blip" existence on the planet, a message we all need to hear. 4/5 stars
